About the Program

Lady Bug has been a noted preschool in the Milford area since the 1970's.  We are state licensed and non-profit institution, whose main curriculum  is designed for 4 or 5 year olds, the year before kindergarten.

Our program helps prepare preschoolers for kindergarten.   It is a traditional program with emphasis on individual attention and consideration, encouraging personal development and interests, while giving children experience in a classroom learning environment.  It encourages social, emotional, physical  and behavioral skills they will need for success in elementary school.

As required by state law,  the children receive instruction in all subjects, including math, science, and social studies.  Literacy is a main focus.   Listening skills and following directions skills are emphasized for success in kindergarten.  We follow a daily schedule with planned lessons and have a regular routine, although we are flexible in case change is needed.

We keep an eye on all motor skill development.  Each child is evaluated at his/her own ability level continually during the school year. Lists of skills recommended for kindergarten are available and teachers are accessible to the parents anytime during the year.  Music and dancing for large motor skill development are incorporated generously.  Also an area of fo us  is arts and crafts for small muscle development,  creativity development and arts appreciation.

Here are some vital stats about our classes:
  • Four year old classes meet 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) from  9:00am  until 12:00pm.
  • Class sized range from 10 to 14 children.
  • We observe Milford Exempted Village Schools  holiday schedule and snow days.  However, we are in session even  if Milford is closed for teacher in service days or other district meetings.
  • Playtime is  a scheduled  activity and is enjoyed  by all.  On nice days, the children leverage our outdoor playground.
  •  A snack is served every day.
  • We have 5 major seasonal parties during the year, and encourage parents and siblings to come and celebrate with us.
  • Parents wanting to recognize their child's birthday are  welcome to do so at snack time that day.
  • We encourage parental participation.  Parents are welcome to provide any snack or treat for any regular class day and also to share a talent or a craft with the class.
  • We do take field trips with all parents and siblings encouraged to attend.  We do use parents for driving to the field trip location.
  • Most of all---we enjoy being with the children and having fun.  We want the children to also have fun learning and making friendships.
